At the end of various rounds of meetings and hours-long discussions, it was decided that it would only be fair to find an American to construct the monument that would immortalize the country’s inaugural president. After 4 years of rigorous search, Baltimore finally found its architect, and his name was Robert Mills. He was working on various designs, but the one that he finalized was the blueprint of a tower that was projected to stand quite tall in the sky. The blueprint also incorporated a statue of George Washington at the pinnacle.

The Idea Behind It All

When the architect Robert Mills submitted his final blueprint, there were multiple interviews where people wanted to know what the overarching idea behind it all was, and the thought behind this tower-like monument. In a statement, he told the media that his design would convey the true nature and firmness of the president himself. He further added that it would also be in full sync with the true spirit of the American government. However, the real question was if Robert would be able to give the Baltimore people what they expected from him.
