The book came about after nine hours of conversation between Michael and Christopher, while the latter was incarcerated over those months. Naturally, Christopher wasn’t the most talkative person, but somehow Michael got the book out of him, and his story is now immortalized through the worldwide publication of the book.

Across all the interviews he did, Christopher said that he wasn’t proud of what he ended up doing. Being known as a “master burglar” who had evaded the law for three decades was not exactly something he aspired to be growing up. He apologized for the harm he caused, and the fear that spread as a result of his actions.
