Initially numbered at over 150 000, the overall Jewish community suffered major losses, and of the total number, only 5 000 returned. Some were still hiding in the Netherlands and elsewhere at the end of the war.

A third reich ear building, the Eagle’s Nest can be found right at the top of Kehlstein, adjacent to Berchtesgaden. Many important meetings for the Nazi party were held here, often attended by the Fuhrer himself.
