Peaceful Sleep
As is understandable, many soldiers did not get much sleep during the war. Sleep is really one the most important resources humans have to restore, but often fear and anxiety are crippling, and eventually lead to greater soldier fatigue over time.

Some days involved non-stop fighting, and soon American troops asked for a much-needed break. In this photograph, soldiers can be seen enjoying some rare free time, in a bid to restore their energy in order to continue the battle ahead.
Egypt From The Skies
A little known fact about the war relates to the importance of North Africa and the region being a consistent space for battles between Allied forces and their enemies. Over the course of three years, the so-called North African Campaign saw the loss of many soldiers lives.

Libya was still an Italian colony when WWII broke out, and Egypt was a well established British colony since 1882. The picture here is an Allied plane, hovering over the Egyptian pyramids. After the Italy declared war on the Allies, the region was riddled with warfare as the two armies tried to control the region.
