Reclusive, Even With Family
Christopher did what he could to remain firmly in the background in his childhood, which was easier than you would think thanks to being the middle child in a family of seven. He accompanied his father on some hunting trips from time to time, but preferred to sleep away from everyone on the back of the truck, rather than staying in the tent. This would echo some of the antisocial behavior he would continue to show moving into adulthood.

Sibling Rivalry
As in any big family, sibling rivalry is a common occurrence. In Christopher’s family, money wasn’t exactly flowing, but where this was the case, they made up for it in terms of intellect and creative knowledge. His parents would talk to the children about poetry, and between them they got very competitive about being the best at writing, painting and more. It’s easy to imagine why he wanted to go to Boston, as this would be far away from the rivalries, and the complicated dynamics of a big family.
