11. White Bread And Margarine

White toast with margarine or spread is a very common breakfast, but it may not be the most filling option. White bread is usually made with refined flour, which means much of the whole grain has been removed. Because of this, it can be lower in fiber and may not keep you satisfied as long as whole grain bread.

Spreads can also add extra fat, and some older or imported products may contain less desirable processed fats. A better daily choice is whole grain or brown bread with a topping that adds nutrition, such as eggs, avocado, nut butter, cottage cheese, or beans. Toast can still be a good breakfast, but the type of bread and topping make a big difference.
