The executive director of the Mount Vernon Conservancy became quite excited when he learned that the granite block had been found. Lance Humphries’ Conservancy monitors the maintenance and care of all the monuments and landmark locations of the region. The excitement that Lance felt could clearly be seen in his statement given to the area’s WBAL.
