It was exactly 200 years ago in 1815 when the foundation stone for the monument was laid and since then, it was all quiet and undisturbed. The cornerstone was in the northern part of the structure. The antiques were just 6 feet under the ground and the timing of its discovery was just perfect. The structure was about to celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2015, and nothing else could have been a better gift. The celebrations will reveal the contents that were discovered.

What The Capsule Revealed?

Enough influx has been done and you must be sitting just at the edge to know what was in the stone. Once the workers and historians brought it to open and the lid was lifted, it had 4 glass jars in it. All the jars contained various items. The items were, e.g., newspapers that were all from the earlier weeks of July 1815. This was the time when the construction work was just being started and the folks at that time wanted us to have some sense of their lifestyle.
