This combination of a historical monument with a modern setup of a security system feels a little less odd when you see it next to the digital screens that are installed across the column to showcase the history. These screens provide facts and interesting dialogues that were from the time when the structure was being built. There are also a few cameras installed on the peak of the pillar and these cameras relay a live view of the city from the top on the screens installed in the monument.

Just like any other project that’s in the works, the renovation schedule was projected to complete by 2014. However, finishing up according to the said timeline was next to impossible. The same was conveyed to the Baltimore Business Journal by the VP of MVP Conservancy, Faith Millspaugh. While talking to the newspaper a year past the scheduled completion of the renovation work, she said that the real issues and problems occur once you are into the renovation and there is no option of going back from there.
