The Popular Colonel
Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle was one of the most popular American Colonels in the war, as he was responsible for training men in hand-to-hand combat in both World Wars. He was well liked by soldiers, and his work helped strengthen the platoons he guided tremendously.

The Popular Colonel
As one story goes, he challenged Marines to do what they could to kill him with bayonets. In not time at all, the great Colonel had disarmed them all, showcasing just how good he was at his craft. He even got a mention in Sports Illustrated for his boxing skills later.
The British Royal Air Force
Many different cities in England and Germany were bombed during WWII. Often, these bombings took thousands of people to execute and were typically done in a series of raids over the span of a couple of days.

The British Royal Air Force had a team of over 700 heavy bombers, with America just shy of 530. Collectively, fighter pilots like the man pictured here, dropped thousands of tons of high explosive bombs in order to assist the Allied forces with their efforts.
