Becky’s child was a boy, and so Johanna decided to name him Beck. We can’t say for certain why Johanna did this. Perhaps it was a way for her to ensure he was always close to his mother in some strange way.

She knew that one day he’d have to tell him about his mother. Johanna and David were good parents and treated Beck no differently than their own kids. Beck had a good home.

Gradually the newly modified family fell into a normal routine. Johanna never ever stopped missing Becky, but over time the pain dulled. As Beck grew, Johanna noted that he was a bit odd.
