No Say In The Matter
While they had no say in the matter, David and Johanna tried to look for a silver lining. They thought that while it was sad for him to be going, at least they had raised him well enough that he could take care of himself.

Instead of fighting it, they decided they’d try and help him as best as they could if he accepted it. They tried to support him, but he was pretty independent.
Beck Drifts Away
Beck found himself some new accommodation pretty quickly, and he was working full time now, so he was able to support himself. All of this led to him settling down on his own pretty quickly, and his contact with them whittled away to nothing.
