When it comes to “Islands,” the experience is different and somehow has more fun, as it presents a “country in a country feeling.” There are many islands in the Philippines, including Palawan Island. It is an epitome of beauty with over 36,00 residents and an average of 20,000 tourists. For many of the locals, the recent developments are costing them their livelihoods as the farmlands have been taken over by developers to build resorts and hotels to accommodate the visitors. Also, there is said to be a shortage of local delicacies for locals to enjoy these days. A lot of tourists do visit the area to get a good tan as well.

Colombians are noticing the influx of tourists in the country, with recent plans by officials to develop the area without care for what the locals think is a significant issue. Take, for instance, the capital for tourism in the country, Cartegna, the projects in the area are being funded by foreign investors all in hopes of making a lot from the tourists coming in. Putting the locals at a disadvantage is a “back burner” focus for these officials.
