The camp was an ideal place to steal from, as people were in and out of their cabins all the time, and there was enough activity for passers-by to go somewhat unnoticed. It would be unlikely that anyone would even spot if there was some food missing from the pantry. On this particular occasion, however, authorities were already tracking a scent and zeroing in on their man.

Operation “Hunt”
Sergeant Terry Hughes was in charge of Pine Tree Summer Camp, which meant that they already had a “one up” on possible criminals, knowing that anything that happened was going to go down under the watchful eye of an expert criminal hunter. Terry referred to the operation as “The Hunt”.
