Roadside search
Arriving at the stretch of road, Gracie scanned the area, a mirror of that long-ago day when the man was first discovered. But the road was empty. Parking along the shoulder, she stepped into the crisp air, her eyes sweeping the ground. There had to be something, some overlooked detail pointing to where he’d gone. Urgency pressed her forward as she searched every inch.
