Dr. Brown’s words echoed in Gracie’s mind: “Check the surroundings. He couldn’t have gotten far.” With that command driving her, she burst through the hospital doors, the sound slamming shut behind her. The night air bit at her skin, sending a shiver down her spine as she scanned the darkness. She moved swiftly, peering into shadows and corners, but the man was nowhere to be found.
