The 295th Squadron of the Royal Air Force was started in August of 1942, and was meant to be a unit that helped with transport of important information and soldiers. It even included a glider tug aircraft, making it well equipped for its duties.

Initially commissioned to drop leaflets into French territory during WWII, in 1943 the mandate changed and it became the first unit to drop soldiers over Normandy, ahead of the now historically renowned “D-Day”.
