Whatever they had knocked into, it was too sturdy to be made of stone, and despite his impatience, James found himself quietly curious as to what it could be. When they had shed enough of the coating soil, James reached in and felt his way around whatever was in there. He was amazed at how smooth the object was, being far too softly textured to be a rock.
